La Grange Ancienne (the Old Barn) offers Bed and Breakfast in the Charente area of South West France.

 We are Located in the small hamlet of Le Breuil in the village of Montrollet, in the eastern corner of the Charente.We are just 1 kilometre from the departmental border of the neighbouring department of Haute-Vienne, in which is located the nearest large town, St.Junien.

We are also situated only 25 minutes away from Limoges airport and offer a courier service to and from the airport (please contact us for further details).

La Grange Ancienne features two double en-suite rooms and is situated within a tiny hamlet in the rural countryside, although we are only a short distance away from the enchanting city of Limoges and the interesting town of St Junien is only a ten minute drive away!

For those who are keen to fish, there are various lakes situated within the area, mainly for carp, but details of what is on offer can be obtained by contacting ourselves. There are also two golf ranges closeby, either in St Junien or at Mortemart as well as an equestrian centre for those who want to discover the countryside on horseback!

Within each room you will find various leaflets providing details of places of interest, which include the reknown ‘velorail’ which you can take either from Confolens or Bussiere-Gallant. This cycle ride is for four persons and is a great way to discover the old railway lines and the surrounding countryside. Other activities include an adventure parc for adults and children at varying levels (but not for those who are afraid of heights!), Paintballing at Bussiere-Gallant or take the petit train through Limoges to discover places of interest.

There are lots more on offer including a visit to a distillery near Carnot and Marceau,, which has been active since 1789, the Musee National de la Porcelaine at Limoge, visit the gardens of the notorious French writer Colette, the infamous maze of the ‘Labyrinthe Geant de Gueret'. There are also various tapestry and art museums to visit within the area as well as the Aquarium at Limoges, the wildlife parc at Raynou, or the wolf parc at Chabrieres or the Valley of the Monkeys!

Above all a trip to Poitiers to Futurescope is a must as there is everything there for the family and features a fascinating firework display at the end of the day during the summer period.
